Trio Fidelis

The group's name is pronounced "Trio Fi-dey-lis".

Cathy Altmann

Cathy Altmann studied violin with Alison Bottomley, Penny Morrish (UK) and Fintan Murphy, gaining her Licentiate in Music in 1989. She has played with the Australian Youth Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Rantos Collegium, and the Australian Pops Orchestra. Current musical activities include chamber music, violin teaching, and supervising her daughter’s piano practice. Cathy’s other passion is poetry, and she currently has a poem featured on Melbourne’s trains as part of a Moving Galleries project. Cathy is married to John and they have two children.

Cathy’s violin was made by George Louis Panormo, in London, 1840. Panormo came from a family of famous violin and guitar makers. In the 1850s, his brother Louis and other family members moved to the goldfields of Victoria, and then to New Zealand, where they purchased a sheep farm. The Australian connection, indeed!

Gina Denholm

Gina Denholm studied cello under Markus Stocker at the Queensland Conservatorium, coming to Melbourne in 2000 to spend a year furthering her studies at the Australian National Academy of Music. She loves orchestral playing and has fond memories of her years in the Australian Youth Orchestra, as well as casual work with the Queensland and Melbourne Symphony Orchestras. These days, Gina likes to steal the odd moment away from her one year old son to knit, sew, relax with her husband Justin, play bass guitar at church and of course, play her cello with Trio Fidelis.

Gina’s cello, ‘Nelson’, was made in 1997 by renowned string-maker Adrian Studer in Nelson, New Zealand.

Angela Chandler

Angela Chandler completed a Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne, and then continued her piano studies with Michael Spivakovsky. Accompanying and ensemble work has always been a particular interest and pleasure.  Current activities include teaching piano and music craft and involvement in local church music. Angela met Rob when they were both playing in a Christian contemporary band. They have two children who fill the house with music.
